My Approach
I find so much value in subtle details and treasure natural light in a way that dominates how I document the moments that unfold. Using my collection of numerous film and digital mediums are essential for me to convey a timeless blend of a modern-vintage and art-lead perspective. Whether it’s throughout someone’s wedding day, a mothers first child growing in her belly, a husband and wife celebrating another year of life as one, or the simple beauty of capturing a season of life for oneself or of loved ones “just because”.
I use a heart-led, laidback, and transparent approach while documenting sweet humans by going back to the valuable basics of creating images that are refined yet still natural, poetic, and timeless in feel. I seek to accomplish this by reading between the lines of the environment and sensing the emotions of each individual I am documenting. I’m not one who takes things too seriously and I certainly don’t try to contrive moments. I am there for the real deal and to let your day and moments play out as if I wasn't there, because that is where the true beauty is found.
Stepping into someone's realm to document their authentic being can be incredibly vulnerable and a bit intimidating. I see that and believe it needs to be handled with care. Trust is key. When trust is formed, that is where the real magic happens! The carefree mentality starts to shine brightly because there isn’t any need to worry about who’s watching. Creating a comfortable, relaxed, and safe space where one feels completely at ease, understood, and confident while I capture them with natural guidance and encouragement is something that is essential to my approach.
The beauty of oneself is already there. It just takes a joint effort to cultivate it by having a kindred-sprinted connection to accomplish this effortlessly.
